MicroAppli launches XShare™ —“Mobile Sharing Made Simple”

Recently a 10-megapixel camera phone was unveiled- this far surpasses the resolution of mid-market digital cameras! The cameras built into mobile phones are now far more advanced than ever before, they come with flash, auto-focus, filters and more.
Yet the puzzling fact is that of the 180 million camera phone users, a Kodak market survey in 2005, showed that 70% rarely, if at all send these pictures to other phones, and almost two-thirds are not uploading pictures on to a computer.

The notoriously unreliable MMS, and cumbersome methods such as transferring using Bluetooth, IR, have failed in getting content ‘out of the phones’. With XShare, MicroAppli will enable the millions of camera phone users to share effortlessly: your pictures, videos, ring tones, and other files instantly, anywhere. XShare allows users to post pictures and videos instantly on blogs, photo-sharing sites, or web communities after adding tags; alternatively they can send them over to other phones.

XShare is created to deliver precisely what is lacking in current technologies- it is a simple, user-friendly service that is also reliable and effective. Users are prompted the moment the picture/video is taken with the option of sharing it. It’s a simple ‘one-click’ process.

“This service is merely the starting point,” says Sourabh Sharma, the CEO, “there are many more content related services to be rolled out in the future. In fact one day, all mobile phone-users across the world would be able to share and access content on the mobile network, seamlessly across different countries, network operators, regardless of the phone devices”. MicroAppli aspires to become the enabler for sharing, publishing and accessing of content on mobile devices.

XShare- multiple destinations and more
XShare users have the choice of publishing their photos directly at Flickr, Snapfish (HP), Xuqa.com, 23Hq, Fotki, Pixpulse, Photosite, TextAmerica, Moblog.uk, Smugmug, or CampusJoint. And new sites are being added everyday.

Its ‘send to phone’ feature works seamlessly across mobile networks, operators, and overcomes mobile device variability. In other words, any audio, video or other files can be sent to any mobile user anywhere across the globe using XShare™.

The service is exceptionally user-friendly with automatic detection when the picture/video is taken, and a simple user interface. The application also automatically attaches information such as the location (country), cell ID, and time, when the content (photos, videos) is created.

The alpha version of XShare is currently available for download via invitation only from www.myxshare.com . It will be available for public use via operators in SE Asia from Q4 ’06 onwards.
